I'm Back!!!

Well, it's been several weeks since my last post, and I'm sure many of you have wondered what ever happened to that crazy dude of a subdeacon/professor. No, I have not fallen off "landes ende, where ther bee dragons". I spent a good deal of time in England and the Continent (Paris, Berne, Florence, Rome and Barcelona), and, after a safe return (Deo gratias), now see a mountain of work related to my dissertation ahead of me. I will post pictures of some of the the most awe-insiring cathedrals and parish churches (including St. Peter's Basilica) as soon as I get my digital camera back.

Along with the pictures, I will be posting some meditations from patristic and ascetic sources, for your edification. Stay tuned!

As for the series of meditations on St. John Cassian's treatise On the Eight Vices (which I began in Lent), I will continue that in Advent. Quite appropriate, I think, since, while not as intesive a fast as Lent, nonetheless stresses the penitential discipline of watchfulness, as we await the Lord's return.

It is certainly good to be back, but I do miss the good food. There they seem to use the freshest ingredients, with no hormones. You are now talking to one who is a aconvert to, and an advocate of "whole foods"-the way the Almighty meant us to eat!
